Alleged N1.5bn Contract Scam: Court adjourns Omotseye's cross examination till Nov. 10

Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia, of a Lagos Federal High Court, has adjourned the continuation of cross-examination of the former managing director of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Mr. Raymond Omatseye, who is facing criminal case before the court till November 10 and 11.
Before the matter was adjourned, lawyer to the anti-graft agency, the Economic. And Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Godwin Obla, SAN, informed the court that the agency was yet to get a manual which the accused claimed to have authorized him to sign contracts above the threshold.

However, lawyer to the former NIMASA managing director Mr. E. D. Onyeke, informed the court that his client testified that he has an authoritative manual that his client's contention was the issue of approval which was never contended.
However, the presiding judge, Justice Ofili-Ajumogobia adjourned the matter till November 10 and 11, for re-cross examination of the former NIMASA's Director-General.
The accused, Omatseye, is standing trial before Ofili-Ajumogobia's led-court on an amended 27-count bordering on contract splitting and bid rigging to the tune of about N1.5bn offences contract scam.
He was alleged to have been involved in contract splitting and bid rigging estimated at over N1.5 billion.
The offence according to the prosecutor, Chief Godwin Obla,  contravenes the provisions of sections 58(4) (d) of the Public Procurement Act 2007; and the provisions of sections 14(a) of the money laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2004.
