Arraignment: Agent defraud journalist

A 42 year-old real estate agent, Babalola Muritala, has been arraigned at a Magistrate’s Court sitting in Igbosere, Lagos State, for allegedly defrauding a journalist of the sum of seven hundred thousand naira under pretext to secure a mini flat apartment.
Babalola Muritala was arraigned before Magistrate J. Ugbomoiko (Mrs) on a three-count charge bothering on stealing, obtaining by false pretence and threat to life.
The prosecutor, Sergent Okete Ejione, told the court that Babalola committed the offence on 28th of August, last year at Dosunmu Street, Lagos Island.
The second count on the charge sheet states: “That you, Muritala Babalola, on the same date, time and place in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did steal the sum of seven hundred thousand naira property of one Mr. Wahab Akinlade and thereby committed an offence punishable under law.”
However, the defendant, Babalola Muritala pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in the like sum.
The magistrate, Mrs J. Ugbomoiko adjourned the case till January 29, 2016 for mention, ordering that the sureties must show evidence of three years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
