Engineer docked for issuing dud cheque worth N6m

An engineer who allegedly issued two  post dated cheques worth about six million naira
which were dishonored on presentation, was docked at an Igbosere Magistrates' Court, Lagos.
Peter Balogun, 48, who resides at No. 58, Ogudu Road Ojota, Lagos, is standing trial on one-count charge bordering on fraud.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Steven Molo told the court that the accused committed the alleged offence on July 22, 2012 at Ogudu, in Lagos.
He said that the accused issued a First City Monument bank post dated cheque worth N3. 4 million and another cheque worth N2.3 million to one Adedayo Ogunbanwo.
The prosecutor said the cheque was returned for lack of funds when presented at the bank.
He said that the alleged offence contravened Section 319 (b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.
The accused pleaded not guilty.
The Magistrate's, Mrs Ambimbola Komolafe, however, granted  him bail in the sum of two hundred and fifty thousand naira with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case till June 30 for mention.
