Alleged N68.7m theft: 3 witnesses to testify against NBC manager.

The trial of former manager of Nigerian Bottling Company, NBC, bottle of Coca-cola beverages, Abayomi Adedeji, who is charged before the court, on alleged theft of about sixty nine million naira, suffers set back as the new police prosecutors calls for more time to study the case file.
Adedeji, was charged before an Ebute-Metta Chief Magistrate's court  by men of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department of Lagos State Police Command, Panti-Yaba, on a two count-charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The police alleged that the accused and others now at large, used his capacity as  Plant/Logistics Manager of Nigeria Bottling Company, and committed the alleged financial crime between June 2011 and June 2014.
The offences according to the police are contrary to and punishable under sections 409 and 285(7) of the criminal laws of Lagos state of Nigeria, 2011.
The new prosecutor, Inspector Chinalu Nwadione informed the Court, that he has three witnesses to testify against the former manager.
Inspector Nwadione gave the names of the three star witnesses as; Mrs. Adenike, Prosper Ozonyi and Inspector Emafigo Kennedy, the police that investigated the alleged financial crimes.
Also, the prosecutor, Inspector  Nwadione, informed the court that he could not proceed with the trial of the accused person, as he is just taking over the matter. He added that he his seeing the defendant for the first time.
He  therefore sought for a very short adjournment, to enable him study the case file.
Meanwhile, lawyer to the accused person, Mr. Tunji Adeyemi faulted the submission of the prosecutor, and argued that the prosecutor has resumed duty on the last adjourned date, saying that the trial is becoming trending,  and that the prosecutor is never ready for the trial of the matter.
Mr. Adeyemi further informed the court that trial of the case which was initially fixed for September 9, but was adjourned to the new date due to the absence of the presiding Chief Magistrate, Mrs. O.I. Adelaja, who is said to be on annual vacation.
He therefore urged the court that the criminal case against his client  be stroke out.
The presiding Chief Magistrate, Magistrate A. O. Adelaja, said since the matter was to be for mention, since there is a new prosecutor both parties can go on with the trial if they are ready.
She later adjourned the matter till January 18, for trial.
