Police arraigned Caterpillar operator and others for malicious damages

A Caterpillar operator and two others were charged before an Igbosere Magistrate's Court in Lagos over alleged stealing and malicious damaged. 
The defendants are Nurudeen Yekini, Femi Johnson and Adebare Ademoye.
They are facing a three count charge bordering on conspiracy, stealing and malicious damage preferred against them by the police.
The defendants whose residential addresses was not given were docked before Magistrate J. O. K Adepoju.
The prosecutor Sergeant Innocent Odugbo told the Court that the defendants and others who are still at large conspired to commit the alleged offences.
He said that the defendants  committed the alleged offences on July 2, 2016, at Aiyeteju Village, Ibeju Lekki, Lagos.
Sgt. Odugbo also alleged that the defendants stole the following two tons of 12mm Iron rods, one ton of 10mm Iron rods, two tons of 16mm iron rods all valued at six hundred and fifty thousand naira.
Others are 250 bags of cement valued four hundred thousand naira, 90 tons of granite valued, four hundred and thirty thousand naira, four trips of sharp sand valued about two hundred thousand naira.
The prosecutor further  ‎stated that the defendants maliciously damaged twelve coached, one acres fence measuring 400sqm, three uncompleted lock-up shops, uncompleted three bedroom bungalow by using caterpillar to demolish it without any lawful excuse, property of one Mr. Ademola Murtala, which is worth  about twelve million naira.
According to the prosecutor the offences committed is punishable under section 409, 285 (5), 337 of the criminal law s of Lagos state 2011.
However the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against them by the police.
Consequently Magistrate Adepoju admitted them to bail in the sum of one million naira each with two sureties each in like sum.
She adjourned the case to September 13, for mention.
