Female banker arraigned for alleged N90m fraud

A 32-year-old female banker, Adejumoke Anthony, who allegedly aided some fraudsters to steal ninety million naira, has been arraigned by the police at a Lagos State Magistrate's Court in Igbosere.
The defendant, a resident of Lekki, is standing trial on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Corporal Innocent Odugbo, told the court that the accused committed the offences some time in March 2013, at Lekki.
He accused the defendant of conspiring with others still at large to fraudulently obtain and steal N90 million belonging to one Mr. and Mrs. Babatunde Oduewu, customers at her bank.
According to the prosecutor, the alleged offences contravened Sections 285 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
Convictions under Sections 285 and 409 provide for a maximum of two and three years imprisonment respectively.
However, the defendant denied all of the charges.
The magistrate, Mrs. A. O. Awogboro, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N5m with two sureties in the like sum.
The matter was adjourned till January 26, 2016.
