Man 25, gets 4years jailed term over drug dealing

A Lagos Federal High Court, has sentenced a 25 year-old man,  Dapo Sunday, to four years imprisonment over unlawful dealing in cocaine and heroin.
The court presided over by Justice Chukeujekwu Aneke, convicted and sentenced the 25 years old man on Friday, after he pleaded guilty to the two count charges leveled against him by the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.
At the arraignment of the convict on Friday, the NDLEA prosecutor, Mr. J. I. Aernan, while reviewing the facts of the case, informed the court that the convict was arrested on May 25, 2015, at Amatua Market, Fagba-Ifako, Agege, Lagos, with 8.5 grams of Cocaine and 15.8 grams of Heroin.
The offences according to the Prosecutor are contrary to and punishable under section 11(c) of National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Act Cap. N30 Laws of Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
During the review of the matter, the prosecutor tendered the seized drugs, the convict's statement, and other exhibits which were admitted by the court.
The prosecutor had urged the court to convict and sentence drug hawker having pleaded to the two count charges.
Consequently, the presiding judge, Justice Aneke, after pronouncing the convict guilty as charge, sentenced him to four years imprisonment on each count charge.
The judge however ordered that the convict jail terms is to run concurrently.
Justice Aneke also ordered that the banned substance arrested with the convict, be destroyed by NDLEA after 90 days if there is no appeal against the judgment.
