Court remand Baale and his son for the murder of Alhaji Gay

The Police today arraigned the traditional ruler, Baale, of Temidire Community, in Alagbado area, Alhaji Nojeem Abioye and his son , Wahab Abioye in connection with the killing of Alhaji Rasaki Olaniyan Olatunji, popularly known as Tunji Alaso as well as Alhaji Gay, before Justice Lateef Lawal-Akapo of an Ikeja High Court in Lagos.

The duo were arraigned on two count charge bordering on conspiracy to commit a felony to wit; Murder contrary to section 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011 and Murder contrary to section 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.
The judge has subsequently ordered that the defendants be remanded in Kirikiri Medium Prison custody, and thereafter adjourned till June 23 for arguement on bail applications.
Alhaji Gay, a hotelier with an alleged reputation for homosexuality, was reportedly murdered during a riot on July 20, 2015 in the Alagbado area of Lagos State.
Police investigation revealed that on July 20, last year, Alhaji Nojimu Abioye and the people in that community organised a protest and while the protest was on the deceased arrived at the venue in his vehicle.'Immediately the deceased vehicle was sighted, some thugs led by the Baale and others attacked him and broke the class of his jeep.    After escaping the attack, the deceased left the scene and report at Alagbado Police Station. Thereafter, the deceased and some police officers went back to the scene with the deceased and he was attacked again pointing out that it was the baale who held him on the neck while Taofeek Olori and Idowu Terror now at large held his hands while the baale son, Wahab Abioye hit the deceased with a shovel on his head and Taofeek Olori stabbed the deceased severally on his body.
Meanwhile, an elder sister to the deceased, Madam Ganiyat Olapeju Popola told newsmen after the proceedings that, Alhaji Gay's wife whose name was given as Idowu gave birth to a baby boy this morning contrary to rumours making the round that he had no wife.
