Synagogue Saga: Prison warders harrased newsmen for taking shots

Prosecutor in the on-going trial of trustees of Synagogue Church of All Nations and two engineers indicted over the church’s collapsed guest house has presented new proof of evidence.
The development stalled the cross examination of witnesses scheduled for the day.
The Director of Directorate of Public Prosecution, Mrs Idowu Alakija informed the court of the development at the resumed hearing of the matter.
Counsel to the Trustees of the Church, Chief Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, confirmed service of the new proof of evidence and urged the court to grant the defence team opportunity to study it before responding.
The presiding judge, Justice Lateef Lawal-Akapo granted the prayer of the defence counsel and adjourned the matter till Friday this week.
Meanwhile, after the proceedings mild drama ensued between journalists and men of Nigerian Prison Serviceu as warders obstructed newsmen from taking shots of the indicted engineers.
The prison warders were allegedly believed to have been compromised, as they were giving special treat to the indicted engineers in contrast to their regular routine with suspects.
The engineers who has been granted bail by the court has failed to perfect their bail condition.
A six-storey guest house belonging to the church collapsed on the twelfth of September 2014, killing one hundred and sixteen persons, most of them South Africans.
